Even after Warren Miller’s passing in 2018, his name remains synonymous with adventure and excellence in outdoor cinematography. Seventy-Five, as the 75th film from Warren Miller Entertainment, continues the tradition of producing films that inspire, entertain, and elevate the art of winter sports.

A Cast of World Class Athletes

Seventy-Five wouldn’t be a true Warren Miller film without a cast of world-class athletes pushing the boundaries of what’s possible on snow. The film features a star-studded lineup of both veteran skiers and snowboarders, as well as the next generation of talent, who bring their own style, energy, and creativity to the mountain.

Jonny Moseley, an Olympic gold medalist and longtime Warren Miller narrator, returns once again to guide viewers through this extraordinary journey. His presence, along with other familiar faces like Marcus Caston and Michelle Parker, ties the film to the rich history of Warren Miller productions, while offering fresh, exciting new performances. Caston’s powerful and fluid skiing style on challenging terrains, and Parker’s fearless backcountry adventures, stand out as some of the most captivating moments in the film.

Joining the veterans are rising stars like Parkin Costain, who represents the next generation of skiers pushing the limits of the sport. These young athletes bring a sense of innovation to the film, demonstrating new techniques, daring tricks, and a fresh perspective on the mountains. Their segments, filled with high-flying jumps, steep drops, and technical mastery, inject a new sense of energy into the Warren Miller series, showing that the future of winter sports is bright.

Personal Stories & Humour

Warren Miller films have always been about more than just action - they tell the personal stories of the athletes who dedicate their lives to the mountains. Seventy-Five continues this tradition, offering glimpses into the lives, challenges and triumphs of the athletes featured in the film. Through interviews, behind-the-scenes footage and candid moments, the film reveals the passion, resilience, and camaraderie that drives these athletes to push themselves further every season.

The film also retains the humour that has long been a hallmark of Warren Miller films. With Katie Burrell bringing her comedic charm and wit, Seventy-Five strikes the perfect balance between heart-stopping action and lighthearted fun. Burrell’s segments offer a humorous take on the ski world, adding levity to the intense athletic feats, and making the film feel relatable to viewers who may not be expert skiers or snowboarders themselves.

Reflecting on 75 years of winter sports

As a 75th-anniversary film, Seventy-Five also takes time to reflect on the enormous impact Warren Miller has had on the world of skiing and snowboarding. Through archival footage, the film shows how the sport has grown from its early days when skiing was seen as a niche activity, to the modern era where it has become a global phenomenon. The evolution of ski technology, gear and techniques is highlighted, along with the way winter sports films have changed over the decades.

The film celebrates how Warren Miller’s films have inspired millions to hit the slopes, while also acknowledging the innovations and achievements that have pushed the sport forward. By bridging the past with the present, Seventy-Five captures the essence of what makes skiing and snowboarding such enduring and beloved sports.

A celebration of adventure

At its core, Seventy-Five is a celebration of adventure, nature, and the human spirit. The film captures the beauty and serenity of the mountains, the thrill of carving through fresh powder, and the sense of freedom that comes from exploring new terrains. For viewers, the film serves as a reminder of why they fell in love with skiing or snowboarding in the first place - and for newcomers, it’s an invitation to join in the adventure.

Warren Miller’s films have always been about more than just sports; they’re about a way of life, a connection to the natural world, and the joy of pushing personal limits. Seventy-Five continues that legacy, reminding viewers that the mountains are calling, and the adventure is always worth the journey.

Revisiting Iconic Destinations

As a celebration of 75 years of skiing and snowboarding films, Seventy-Five takes viewers on a journey through some of the most legendary locations featured in Warren Miller films. From the majestic peaks of the Swiss Alps to the rugged backcountry of Alaska, the film revisits many of the locations that have played a significant role in shaping the narrative of winter sports history. The film’s scenic tour includes classic destinations such as Chamonix in France, Whistler Blackcomb in Canada, and the jagged beauty of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado.

The film serves not only as a tribute to these iconic spots, but also as a way of showing how skiing and snowboarding have evolved over the decades. Many of these locations have seen tremendous advancements in technology, infrastructure, and accessibility, but the raw beauty and thrill they offer remain unchanged. For longtime Warren Miller fans, Seventy-Five provides a sense of nostalgia, a reminder of the timeless allure of these destinations that have drawn adventurers for generations.

New Adventures & Untouched Terrains

In addition to revisiting the classics, Seventy-Five introduces viewers to new and uncharted winter sports destinations. Filmed in remote and less-travelled locations like the Japanese Alps, the snowy wilderness of Kyrgyzstan, and the volcanic slopes of Iceland, the film offers a fresh perspective on the endless possibilities for adventure in the winter sports world. These new terrains provide athletes with opportunities to explore untouched powder, steep descents, and challenging landscapes that have rarely been featured in mainstream ski films.

This combination of old and new is one of the defining features of Seventy-Five. By juxtaposing the time-honoured tradition of skiing in classic locations with the excitement of discovering new ones, the film highlights the enduring appeal of winter sports while embracing the thrill of innovation and exploration.
