We Love

More time in the mountains

As lovers of the mountains, we want to be able to spend as much time as possible in them, and the high altitude of Tignes gives us the chance to sneak in a few extra trips in early December and late April.

Extensive off-piste

Such an expanse of off-piste terrain that's easily accessible from the lift system offers plenty of opportunities for morning or afternoon trips without having to commit to a full day out in the back-country.

Lunch stops

We know our evening meals in the Chalet-Hotel Rosset are more than enough to keep you full for the week, but it's a holiday and you'll love the options you have for a classic long French lunch in some of the best restaurants that the Alps has to offer.

Linked to Val d’Isère

Being able to pop over to Val d’Isère and enjoy the atmosphere there is a great treat.

Snow & glaciers

We love snow in all its forms, from beautifully groomed pistes to deep powder, and Tignes gets loads of it from early November through to late April, which keeps the pistes pristine and the off-piste fluffy!

With not just one but two glaciers, you can be sure of great skiing and snowboarding all year round.

Free lifts

There are five complimentary ski lifts available. These include the Claret tow lift and Bollin chairlift in Val Claret; the Rosset chairlift in Tignes Le Lac; the Lavachet tow lift in Le Lavachet; and the Pitots tow lift in Brévières. They are especially beneficial for beginners to get accustomed to skiing before purchasing a ski pass, ensuring they spend their money wisely.

Other Activities

Tignes has so much to do if you fancy a day off skiing, you'll need a whole holiday to get through it all, but to name a few:

  1. Bun J Ride: Imagine a combination of ski jumping, bungee riding, and zip-wire. With a harness attached to elasticated cords, you’ll travel down a 30-metre runway into a 4-metre void - It’s an absolute must for thrill-seekers!

  2. Ice diving: Clad in a neoprene drysuit, mask, and breathing bottled air, you can explore the strange underwater world of Tignes Lake - It’s the closest thing to being a penguin!

  3. Moonbiking: Hop on a moonbike and explore the snowy landscapes by moonlight - A unique way to experience Tignes.

  4. Horse or husky sled rides: Enjoy a ride through the snowy terrain with horses or huskies - An unforgettable experience!

  5. Tandem paragliding or microlite flight: Soar above the mountains and take in the incredible views - Perfect for adventure enthusiasts!

  6. Snowshoe hiking or ski touring: Explore the pristine winter landscapes on foot - Tignes has many beautiful trails to discover.

Tignes Le Lac Village

The historic village of Tignes, originally nestled in the valley, was flooded when the dam was built in 1952. This also explains a bit about why Tignes Le Lac was purpose-built and we have to call the fact that it's not a traditional wooden village, but what a place to build a ski resort, and when the setting sun casts its light, even the concrete blocks look good!

For those looking for traditional Tignes, you can ski down to Tignes Les Boisses and check out the meticulously reproduced old church. The Saint Jacques de Tarentaise church, visible today at the entrance of the village, is an exact replica of the original, and it also houses original furniture and altarpieces.

Tignes Le Lac is right at the heart of the resort and provides you with direct access to some of the best skiing and snow in the Alps, with the Chalet-Hotel Rosset only yards from the slopes.

Bars

There is a great variety of bars in Tignes Le Lac, giving you lots of options for a bit of après-ski, or for those with any energy left to burn, some late-night dancing.

Jam Bar

Located at the bottom of Le Rue de la Poste, this cosy bar is perfect for warming up with a coffee or hot chocolate. It’s also a great spot to wait for others doing a quick lap of the Palafour chairlift. The Jam Bar offers a wide range of beers, wines, spirits, and delicious Italian cuisine. Families and groups of all sizes are welcome here.

Loop Bar

The Loop is an ideal venue for après-ski. During the day, enjoy its sun-drenched terrace with a great view. At night, it is popular with seasonaires and holidaymakers alike. Expect friendly vibes, expertly-made drinks, and legendary theme parties!

Cave du Loop

This wine and cocktail cellar bar is run by the same folks behind Loop, Braseros, and Couloir. It’s friendly, comfortable, and serves cocktails, spirits, beers, and wine. You can also pop upstairs to Loop for more fun in the evening.

L’Embuscade

A hidden gem at the top of Rue de la Poste, L’Embuscade is a friendly French bar with a lovely cosy atmosphere. Enjoy funky tunes, play pool, and savour well-priced drinks. Perfect for après-ski or late-evening entertainment.

The Marmot Arms

This friendly English-run bar offers lively après-ski music and a good happy hour. It’s a favorite amongst locals and holidaymakers. Grab well-priced burgers and drinks earlier in the evening, and later on it turns into a lively joint with dancing and DJ's.

Jacks Club

If you’re up for bowling and dancing, Jacks Club is the place to be! Located next to the Spar supermarket in Tignes Le Lac, it features 10 bowling lanes, a games arcade and a nightclub, so you can dance along to 80's tunes and other dance music well into the early hours.

Restaurants

Tignes Le Lac has a great range of restaurants, meaning you can get everything from a quick takeaway pizza to keep the cost down right through to fine dining.

Niturou Steakhouse

A locally-owned and run steakhouse with some fine cuts and a cosy, intimate atmosphere with only 28 seats, making it perfect for couples or small groups. The menu features a variety of delicious cuts of beef, cooked to perfection, and a selection of sides. The bilingual staff (French/English) are friendly and knowledgeable, providing excellent service and great recommendations, especially when it comes to their well-curated wine list. Reservations are highly recommended due to the limited seating. Overall, Niurou Steakhouse promises a warm, welcoming dining experience with top-notch food and service.

Wanaka Crêperie

More than just crêperie with some great salads and a range of sweet and savoury crêpes, it's a great place to stop for a quick lunch if you are around the centre of the village.

Mendikoa

This fine dining spot offers a delightful mix of Basque and Savoyarde cuisine. The warm and cosy ambience, combined with friendly service, makes it a must-visit for foodies. The interior design is simple yet elegant, featuring a glass window that allows diners to peek into the kitchen. Whether you’re craving traditional French dishes or seeking something unique, this is a great place to go.

La Queue De Cochon

This is a charming gem located in the centre of the village, offering a delightful dining experience for both locals and visitors alike. It specialises in European and French fare, with a twist of creativity. The ambience strikes a balance between rustic charm and modern elegance. A great place for a not-too-fussy meal on the staff night off.

La Ferme Des Trois Capucines

Offering a delightful dining experience that combines Savoyard cuisine with a touch of flare. The menu celebrates authentic French and European flavours, with a focus on locally sourced ingredients. Step inside this converted farmhouse and feel the cosy atmosphere - It’s like dining at a friend’s home and is great for either lunch or an evening meal. Make sure you try the duck!

Perfect ski chalet-hotel

Fabulous experience. Close to slopes and very comfortable. Friendly and extremely helpful staff. Amazing 5* food.

Amazing trip will definitely be coming again!

Absolutely loved my time at Chalet Rosset. Staff were so friendly and helpful especially the resort manager, he was able to help us with any queries we had and gave great recommendations. The whole holiday was so well planned out by the team from start to finish, the team booked both ski lessons and ski rentals for us before we got there so there was no fuss when we arrived. The hotel is in a great location, a 2 minute walk to the slopes, shops and restaurants/bars. The food was amazing, buffet plus hot food for breakfast, afternoon tea after 4.30 and a 3 course meal for dinner. Staff were very accommodating if anyone had an allergy/ intolerance or dislike to any food that was on the menu for that night. Will definitely be coming back. Rooms were really lovely. Prices were amazing for the service we got. Thank you to all the staff.

Highly recommend

Great chalet with positive, friendly, calm and professional team of staff. Clean comfortable room, lovely food and excellent facilities. Everything you need for a fantastic weeks skiing. Will be returning.

Ski Miquel @ Tignes rock!

Another great ski holiday with Ski Miquel. Tignes is an excellent resort and the staff and chalet live up to it. Food was excellent all week, the chalet is roomy and has a great bar/lounge, and all the staff were top notch. Missing it already.

Snow, sun and a great holiday company

Our second time in Tignes with Ski Miquel and our 14th trip with them in total. Love their set up, from the comfortable, informal chalets with excellent food, to meeting like minded skiers who want to enjoy our sport but have a laugh while doing so. Critical to this are the Team at Ski Miquel, from Vikki in the office who makes booking a breeze, to Fergus and his in resort team who ensure everyone has a stress free holiday. Already looking forward to holiday 15 with Ski Miquel next year.

Ski Miquel at Chalet Rosset

Comfortable chalet with lovely food. The bar was cosy with a great view and the staff were excellent. The chalet is a short walk from the slopes and close to the centre of town where there are plenty of bars and restaurants. We had a very enjoyable stay.

Highly recommended

The chalet staff were warm and friendly, and would go out of their way to help/ advise. The food was tasty and presented very well, and bar had amazing views. Our room was very comfortable, reasonably spacious, and quiet. The hotel was very accessible to ski hire, bars and only a short walk from the slopes.

Fond memories made!

Location is great, tiny walk to the lifts which is very convenient.
Biggest selling point is the staff who were fantastic throughout - especially the food. Great team.
Thoroughly enjoyed our time, thanks for having us.

Great Chalet Hotel amazing staff, good facilities, clean, great food all round five star experience!

Great stay in Tignes

Fantastic week in Tignes. The chalet hotel has been a lovely place to stay with excellent food, easy walk down to the town and piste. Nice to have a bar overlooking the ski area. Rooms comfortable and plenty of storage and great to have a pool, sauna and steam. Boot room was great and dry boots is always a bonus. The staff were excellent and the food was really good.

Great group place to stay and ski!

Fantastic location - great service from the chalet team - fab food - clean chalet hotel with great amenities and excellent value - highly recommend and will return - cheap on site bar with views onto slopes.

Great location, great skiing (that's what I go for), delightful staff and an all round fabulous experience!

My 23rd year on the trot (barring Covid year) with Ski Miquel to the mountains and the first to Tignes and the Chalet Rosset.
Hoping to return in 2027 with Ski Miquel - who else?
And if that's not a recommendation...?

Great week with Ski Miquel

Staff amazing. Really friendly. Work incredibly hard. Nothing too much bother!! Food delicious and presentation second to none! Chalet comfortable and has good lounge area. Easy access to slopes.

Fantastic chalet

This is our 4th holiday with Ski Miquel but our first time at this resort.
The whole experience from booking to the actual holiday was smooth and easy.
This chalet is particularly nice especially for the price. Staff were very attentive and we had regular WhatsApp updates.
The room was modern and comfortable, the ski room facilities are good and the spa is a really welcome feature.
The food was excellent with dietary requirements catered for well.
We would highly recommend both Ski Miquel as a company and this chalet/resort for a fantastic holiday.

Best. Christmas. Ever.

What a totally fabulous week we just had at this Chalet Hotel. The team cannot do enough to make you feel welcome, answer any queries, and make your holiday extremely comfortable and special. The chef is amazing, the bar has a wonderfully relaxed vibe, and we would LOVE to return. We're a family of four - two adults and two teenagers, and it just worked so well for us all. I cannot recommend it enough.
Thanks everyone at Chalet Rosset!

The staff were consistently pleasant, friendly, and helpful, and the food and service were absolutely amazing throughout our stay. The location was perfect — just moments from the slopes — making skiing incredibly convenient. Overall, it was excellent value for money, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

Fabulous chalet, staff and skiing

Fabulous!!! The chalet was very beautiful in an excellent location with great facilities including a welcoming bar area offering lots of opportunities for socialising or a quiet chill, tea/ coffee on demand with a well stocked bar and staff who made us all feel very welcome - with excellent cocktail making skills!! Food and service top notch - great variety, beautifully presented and soooo yummy! All staff amazing 🤩 … very friendly and fun, fun, fun!! Guiding service around the heavenly ski area was brilliant. Only down side ... the holiday had to end 😢

Love this Chalet

We love this new chalet added to the Ski Miquel portfolio. Our family of four had the most incredible Easter week with the wonderful team. The bar and balconies have such a great view, the food was consistently of a superb standard for every meal and the staff so helpful when any questions arise. This is a real home away from home. Thank you Ski Miquel!
