Why choose Skischule Bad Gastein?

We’re delighted to partner with Skischule Bad Gastein, a friendly and well-established local ski school that has been teaching at all levels in the mountains since 1929.

Skischule Bad Gastein

Local knowledge and years of experience

Skischule Bad Gastein has been part of the resort culture for a century. Its instructors are local and hence know the slopes inside out, knowing where to find the best terrain for each group’s ability, explaining it all to you in perfect English.

That local knowledge makes a real difference. Beginners can learn in suitable, confidence-building areas, while more experienced skiers can explore the full range of what the mountains have to offer, working on their technique as they as go.

Friendly, professional instructors

A good instructor can transform your experience. Skischule qualified instructors take a patient and encouraging approach, with lessons designed to be enjoyable as well as productive.

The team speaks a range of languages, including English, so instructions are clear and it’s easy to ask questions throughout your lesson, giving you the chance to understand the little details that make an impact on your skiing or snowboarding.

Small, well-matched groups

Group lessons are organised according to age, ability and language wherever possible. Keeping groups well matched means nobody feels rushed or held back, and instructors have more time to help each skier individually.

It’s also a sociable way to learn (just like the atmosphere in a Ski Miquel chalet-hotel), whether you’re taking your first turns or building on skills you already have.

Lessons for children

Children begin learning through fun, age-appropriate sessions designed to build confidence on the snow in a safe environment.

Bambini courses introduce 4 to 6 year-olds to skiing through games and simple exercises. Junior courses are available for children aged 6 to 13, with groups arranged by age, language and experience. The programme combines ski tuition with plenty of fun and finishes with an end-of-course ski race.

There is also a Mini Club for children aged 3 to 4. This is a supervised play and activity programme rather than a ski lesson, giving younger children a safe and enjoyable introduction to the snowy surroundings.

Adult ski lessons

Adult group lessons are available for beginners and more experienced skiers. Whether you've never worn skis before, are returning after a few years away or simply want to tidy up your technique, the instructors will help you progress at a comfortable pace.

You can learn at any age with a 3-day Learn2Ski course, which provides a focused introduction to skiing in a supportive small-group environment.

Snowboard lessons

Snowboard courses are available for beginners and improving riders. Lessons cover everything from balance and those all-important first turns through to better control to enable you to ride more confidently around the mountain.

Private lessons

For more individual attention, private lessons can be shaped around exactly what you want to achieve. They are a good choice if you would like to progress quickly, work on a particular aspect of your technique, regain confidence or enjoy a lesson with family and friends.

With flexible tuition and your instructor’s full attention, you can make the most of every minute on the snow.

Convenient location

The ski school office is next to the valley station of the Stubnerkogel gondola lift, making it easy to meet your instructor and head straight onto the slopes.

Skischule Bad Gastein's combination of experienced instructors, small groups and a warm, personal approach makes it an excellent choice for lessons during your Ski Miquel holiday.
