The Chalet-Hotel Claire, previously known as Hôtel l’Edelweiss, is one of those lovely Saint-Martin-de-Belleville places with proper village roots. Its story began in 1965, when Marcelle and Joseph transformed the family barn into a small 10-room hotel. By 1970, it had already grown, with the next generation of the family helping to build the warm, welcoming Alpine address it became. That family heritage still gives the building much of its character and it is more of a mountain home than an anonymous hotel.

Set in the Villette area of Saint-Martin-de-Belleville, the Chalet-Hotel Claire sits in the historic village centre, just below the church, restaurants and pretty stone streets. The ski access is also wonderfully practical, with the slopes and local lift situated just 200 metres from the chalet-hotel, linking to the 'Saint Martin 1' gondola lift and onwards to Méribel, Les Menuires and the wider 3 Valleys area.

The chalet-hotel itself has the classic Savoyard feel that Saint-Martin does so well: rustic wood, stone, cosy bedrooms and a relaxed, understated atmosphere. It's a charming base for guests who want the scale and excitement of the 3 Valleys, but prefer to stay in a traditional French mountain village rather than a purpose-built resort. Quiet, characterful and well-placed, it captures the best of Saint-Martin: authentic Alpine charm with world-class skiing just up the hill.

Room Options

The Chalet-Hotel Claire has 15 rooms, all with ensuite bathrooms. It is currently undergoing renovation, with all bathrooms being updated.

Room types include:

• Twin/double rooms
• Triple room
• Family rooms

Towels are provided, with a change upon request, but dressing gowns are not provided.

Sharing discounts

• Discounts for 3rd or 4th room-sharers in a non-linked room:
  • £100 for adults (aged 16 or over)
  • £150 for children (aged 4-15)

Bar

As with all Ski Miquel chalet-hotels, we ensure your post-ski experience is just as good the skiing and you can relax in our own private bar where afternoon tea will be served along with a full range of drinks, including draft beer and cocktails, which can be added to your holiday package to get the full inclusive experience.

What better way to relax that to sit back in front of the open fire and recount a few stories from your day on the mountain, and we are sure you will have a few a tales to tell with the vast range of skiing on offer.

Dining Room

Evening meals are prepared by our professional chef and served to you in the dining area.

Each day you will be served the following meals by our chalet hosts:

• Buffet breakfast with a hot egg option or pancakes, plus porridge
• Afternoon tea and cake on 6 days
• 4-course evening meal on 6 nights
• Complimentary wine during dinner

All our guests eat together, so you can enjoy sociable mealtimes, and you can also get to make some great new friends!

Sauna

The Chalet-Hotel Claire has its own sauna, so you can relax and soothe those muscles after a great day out on the slopes.

Opening times

• Sunday to Friday:  8am to 9pm
• No children under age 16 are permitted in the sauna
